In the fertile lands of Afgoye, Somalia, farming has long been the backbone of local communities. For generations, banana cultivation has provided families with food, income, and a pathway out of poverty. Today, however, many small-scale farmers are struggling to survive.

Years of drought, flooding, and climate-related disasters have devastated crops and destroyed livelihoods. Families who once relied on their farms are now facing food insecurity, reduced incomes, and an uncertain future. Many farmers lack access to quality seedlings, agricultural training, fertilizers, and the tools needed to rebuild their farms and support their families.

Through this project, Human Appeal will help restore hope and opportunity for vulnerable farming communities by providing 1,000 banana trees to small-scale farmers in Afgoye. Each participating farmer will receive 50 banana trees alongside essential farming inputs, equipment, and training to help them grow healthier crops and increase their harvests.

Farmers will also receive practical training in modern agricultural techniques, irrigation support, fertilizers, and pesticides to strengthen productivity and resilience against future challenges. By empowering local farmers with the knowledge and resources they need, we are helping families create sustainable sources of income that can benefit them for years to come.

The impact goes far beyond a single harvest. Increased banana production means more food on the table, greater financial stability, improved nutrition for children, and stronger local economies. It means parents can better provide for their families, communities can become more resilient, and future generations can look ahead with renewed hope.
