Every year, thousands of families in Bangladesh lose their homes to devastating flash floods. In the flood-prone district of Sunamganj, communities face repeated cycles of destruction. Families living in fragile homes made from mud, bamboo, and other temporary materials are forced to flee whenever floodwaters rise. After each disaster, they return to damaged homes, lost possessions, and mounting poverty. Climate change has made these floods more frequent and more severe, leaving some of the poorest families trapped in a cycle of vulnerability and hardship. Many households spend what little income they have repairing homes that are destroyed again and again.We are launching a campaign to build 100 disaster-resilient homes for some of the most vulnerable families in Bangladesh. <h2>Why This Project Matters</h2>A home is more than four walls and a roof.It provides:<ul><li>Safety during floods and extreme weather</li><li>Security and privacy for families</li><li>Protection for children, women, the elderly, and people with disabilities</li><li>Better health through access to clean water and sanitation</li><li>Stability that allows families to focus on education and livelihoods instead of survival</li></ul> For families living below the poverty line, a resilient home can be the difference between remaining trapped in poverty and building a brighter future. <h2>What Your Donation Will Build</h2>Each home will be specially designed to withstand flooding and harsh weather conditions.The houses will include: ✅ Two-room flood-resilient home✅ Raised foundation or elevated structure to reduce flood damage✅ Safe sanitation facilities✅ Access to clean drinking water through a tube well✅ Solar power system providing lighting and electricity✅ Durable construction materials designed for long-term resilience These homes will enable families to stay safe during floods, reduce repair costs, improve health outcomes, and create opportunities for children to study after dark. <h2>Who Will Benefit?</h2>The project will support 100 vulnerable households, prioritising:<ul><li>Families living below the poverty line</li><li>Landless families</li><li>Flood-affected and displaced households</li><li>Female-headed households</li><li>Elderly people living alone</li><li>People with disabilities</li><li>Marginalised farming and fishing communities</li><li> </li></ul>A total of more than 430 direct beneficiaries will receive safe housing and protection from future disasters. The wider community will also benefit from increased resilience and improved living conditions. <h2>Our Goal</h2>We aim to raise funds to build 100 flood-resilient homes in Tahirpur Upazila, Sunamganj District—one of the areas most affected by recurring flash floods in Bangladesh.
